Welcome to Glashan Public School
Update - September 18th
Our first newsletter of the year has been published and is available in hard copy and on-line. We'd like to remind parents that if they want only an online copy please contact the school office or your child's teacher. Also remember you can follow Glashan on Twitter @glashanleads.
We had a number of students interviewed by Rogers Cable TV earlier this week and we look forward to seeing them featured in an upcoming program about the emerald ash borer issue in Ottawa. The students spoke about their involvment with the Outdoor Classroom project and highlighted how the experience has helped them to understand the importance of environmental issues and what a determined group of people can accomplish.
As noted in our newsletter the Norwegian delegation had an excellent visit and were impressed with students, staff, and the programs we offer.
Update - September 12th
It was very gratifying to see so many parents, students, and staff enjoying themselves at our annual Family Barbecue/Meet the Teacher night last Thursday. The Glashan staff would like to thank everyone for making it such a memorable evening and for the continued support of our parents and school community.
We also want to let our school community know that progress is being made on the Glashan Greening Project. Phase 1 has been approved and the OCDSB is putting the project to tender shortly. We have also had an initial meeting with Nicole Belanger who is the artist who will be working with students and staff on the outdoor digital mural project. Watch for further details in our upcoming newsletter.
Glashan is pleased to host a delegation from Oslo, Norway who are visiting Ottawa to learn more about our education system. Glashan was chosen by OCDSB senior staff to host a delegation in light of our excellent programs, diverse student population, and urban setting. The visit takes place during the morning of Tuesday, September 16th.
